Forever Young BBL™
BroadBand Light BBL (IPL)

What is Forever Young BBL™?

Forever Young BBL™ is a treatment that slows down the aging clock and addresses immediate skin concerns such as freckles, age spots, rosacea, broken blood vessels, and even acne. This innovative technology uses high-powered filtered light to give you a more refreshed, rejuvenated, and youthful appearance.

A ground breaking study on broadband light from Stanford University reveals that Forever Young BBL™ changes the gene expression to mimic that of younger skin. There is little to no downtime with the procedure, and a minimum of 3-5 initial treatments is recommended. Maintenance treatments every 6-12 months will leave you with a creamier and more vibrant complexion.

How does Forever Young BBL™ work?

Forever Young BBL™ optimally delivers infrared and visible light penetrating through the dermis and epidermis stimulating changes at the molecular level and visible changes in the dermis. These changes include the elimination of fine blood vessels that cause redness and the reduction of unwanted melanin that produces pigment irregularities. Gene expression of older damaged skin cells changes, and will more closely resemble the genes expressed in younger skin cells.

What conditions can be treated with Broad Band Light?

  • Sun damage/Age spots
  • Broken veins and capillaries
  • Rosacea
  • Acne
  • Melasma

What areas can be treated?

The most common areas are those most exposed to the damaging effects of sunlight. The most popular treatments are on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient and Dr. Kienstra will personalize a treatment plan based on your needs. He may recommend the combination of BBL and other aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment.

What will happen during the procedure?

Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a warm “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take a few minutes to an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Topical anesthesia will be offered to make the procedure more comfortable, but depending on your tolerance level, may not be required.

What should I expect after the treatment?

You may experience some redness, swelling, or sunburn sensation which should resolve within a few hours. With pigmented areas and age spots you may see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off over a few days. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated. Dr. Kienstra will provide you with complete information about the post treatment care and results.

How long will it take to recover?

This is a non-invasive  procedure with virtually no downtime. In nearly all cases, you are able to apply makeup, return to work and resume most activities immediately. Occasionally mild swelling can persist for a day or so.

What aftercare do I need?

You will be more sensitive to sun exposure and will need to fully protect your skin when outdoors. You will be given post treatment instructions and return to your daily skincare routine quickly.
