Liposuction of the Neck (Facial Liposuction)

Excess fat beneath the chin is a problem for patients of all ages. With targeted liposuction, this area can be sculpted to produce a smoother, more youthful looking neck and jaw line. To remove the fat, a small incision is made beneath the chin and behind each ear. Using a device called a cannula, the fat is suctioned away. The entire procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation.

The ideal candidate for liposuction of the neck will have good skin tone. Neck liposuction is not a solution for sagging skin near the neck; however, in younger patients, loose skin will adhere naturally following liposuction of the neck, and result in a more defined appearance. Patients over the age of 40 with loose skin will benefit the most from a facelift to recontour the neckline. There are also several other treatments available to improve neck contour, including chin augmentation.
