Forever Young BBL™ (IPL)

What is Forever Young BBL™ (IPL) or Broad Band Light?

Forever Young BBL™ is a treatment that slows down the aging clock and addresses immediate skin concerns such as freckles, age spots, rosacea, broken blood vessels, and even acne. This innovative technology uses high-powered filtered light to give your skin a more refreshed, rejuvenated, and youthful appearance.

The RNA expression of aging skin treated with Forever Young BBL™ more closely resembles that of younger skin.

A ground breaking study on broadband light from Stanford University reveals that Forever Young BBL™ changes the gene expression to mimic that of younger skin. The study confirms that both cosmetic and functional changes occur in aging regulators to reveal more youthful skin. There is little to no downtime with the procedure, and a minimum of 3-5 initial treatments are recommended. A consistent program of seasonal BBL will leave you with a creamier, more vibrant complexion.

How does Forever Young BBL™ work?

Forever Young BBL™ delivers light that penetrates both the dermis and epidermis stimulating changes at the molecular level and revealing visible results. These changes include the reduction of fine blood vessels that cause redness, unwanted melanin that produces pigment irregularities, and pore size.

Forever Young BBL™ FAQs

How does it work?

The BBL HERO ForeverBody treatment, from Sciton, uses intense pulsed light to target the pigment within the skin. It flashes specialized light as it is quickly moved across the treatment area. The pigment is initially darkened, helping you know that you had an optimal treatment. Within the next several days, your body’s natural healing process will remove the pigmented cells and replace them with fresh, new, undamaged cells.

How comfortable is the treatment?

Each flash of the light produces a feeling of warmth. Most patients easily tolerate the feeling without needing any anesthetic numbing cream.

How long does it take to see results?

This can vary depending on the individual, the area being treated, and the settings used. However, most patients see results in 2-4 weeks.

How many treatments will I need?

You will see results from a single treatment. However, the number of treatments will depend on the severity of your pigmentation concerns. A typical patient requires two treatments.

What will happen during the procedure?

Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may feel a warm “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take a few minutes to an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Topical anesthesia will be offered to make the procedure more comfortable, but may not be necessary depending on your tolerance level.

What should I expect after the treatment?

You may experience some redness, swelling, or sunburn sensation which should resolve within a few hours. With pigmented areas and age spots you may initially see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off over a few days. As skin improves, flaking will lessen as the change is occurring at a deeper level. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated. At your visit, Dr. Kienstra and his team will provide you with post treatment care instructions.

How long will it take to recover?

This is a non-invasive  procedure with virtually no downtime. In nearly all cases, you are able to apply makeup, return to work and resume most activities immediately. Occasionally mild swelling can persist for a day or so but this is rare.

What is the post care?

It is important that you wear a physical barrier sunscreen, clothing, and limit your sun exposure after your treatment.
